approaches diseases and surgery of the head and neck.
The CHNJ uses the Diamond Open Access model. This
means that there are NO author processing fees and no
fees to access the published papers. The journal has
been established through the collaboration of the
University of Zagreb School of Medicine, the Croatian
Medical Association, and the Croatian Society for Head
and Neck Tumors.

Drago Prgomet
Prof. Drago Prgomet MD, PhD, is the head of the Department of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine. He is also the director of the Head and Neck Tumor Center at the University Hospital Zagreb and chair of the Reference Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia for thyroid surgery. He has authored numerous scientific articles and is actively involved in international professional organizations, as well as in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. His principal clinical interests are head and neck cancer, thyroid surgery, and reconstructive and plastic surgery.

Prof. Ivica Lukšić, MD, PhD, is a renowned expert in the field of head and neck cancer surgery. Krsto Dawidowsky
Krsto Dawidowsky, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor of otorhinolaryngology at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, a subspecialist in audiology, and the head of Otology at the University Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at the University Hospital Center Zagreb. Since 2025, he has presided over the Croatian ENT Society. He graduated from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 1995, completed his specialization in otorhinolaryngology in 2005, and his subspecialization in audiology in 2008. In 2006, he defended his master’s dissertation, and in 2011, his doctoral dissertation in the field of otorhinolaryngology. From 1994 to 1997, he was Assistant Editor-in-Chief of Neurologia Croatica. His areas of expertise include otology, audiology, and cranial base surgery.

Boris Bumber is a specialist in otorhinolaryngology and plastic surgery of the head and neck. He graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb in 2005, completed his specialization in otorhinolaryngology in 2012, and obtained his subspecialization in plastic surgery of the head and neck in 2016. Vesna Bišof
Vesna Bišof, MD, PhD, graduated from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 1991 and was board-certified in Radiotherapy and Oncology in 2003. Since 1999, she has been working at the Department of Oncology, University Hospital Center Zagreb. She earned her PhD in 2008 from the University of Zagreb. She holds the title of associate professor and has been affiliated with the University of Osijek School of Medicine and, since 2022, with the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, Department of Clinical Oncology. In 2018, she became senior research associate in the field of biomedicine and health sciences (clinical medical sciences). Her clinical and research focuses on oncology, particularly head and neck cancers and gastrointestinal malignancies. She is a member of the Croatian Oncology Society, the Croatian Society for Head and Neck Tumors, the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology, and the European Society for Medical Oncology.

Ratko Prstačić
Assoc. Prof. Ratko Prstačić, MD, PhD graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb in 1996 with honors and completed his residency in Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at the University Hospital Centre Zagreb in 2003, followed by subspecialization in Phoniatrics in 2009. He obtained his PhD in 2014 and was elected to a title of Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Zagreb in 2022. In 2024, he was elected to the academic rank of Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb.
At the University Hospital Centre Zagreb, he holds the position of Head of the Phoniatric Division at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery and his main professional and research interests include phoniatrics, laryngology, rhinosinusology, and thyroid surgery.
Assoc. Marinka Mravak-Stipetić
Prof. Marinka Mravak-Stipetić, DMD, MSc, PhD, is a full professor and vice-dean for cooperation with teaching bases at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health, University Josip Juraj Strossmayer, in Osijek. She graduated from the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, in 1981 and received her PhD in 1992. Until 2022, she was employed at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, University Hospital Center Zagreb, where she specialized in oral and dental pathology and periodontology (1991). Prof. Mravak-Stipetić conducts graduate and post-graduate teaching, has led several national research projects, has mentored numerous student and PhD theses, and has authored many scientific articles and book chapters. She is the founder and vice-president of the Croatian Society for Multidisciplinary Cooperation in Dental Medicine of the Croatian Medical Association, president of the Working Group for Promoting Multidisciplinary Cooperation in Dental Medicine, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia, and a member of the Committee for Orofacial Diseases of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. She is an editorial board member and a guest associate editor at high-level international dental journals. Her main scientific and professional interests are oral diseases, oral-systemic health connection, and molecular aspects of oral diseases.

Renata Curić Radivojević, MD, PhD, FESAIC is a specialist in anesthesiology, reanimatology, and intensive care medicine at the University Hospital Centre Zagreb and an active academic clinician with a strong focus on shared airway management, perioperative medicine, and critical care. She has extensive experience in clinical research and has participated in and led national and international multicenter studies, including the STARGATE, INTUBE and DecubICUs projects. She is the author and co-author of peer-reviewed scientific publications and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. Her professional interests include patient safety, outcomes research, and the organization and logistics of complex airway management systems in both operating room and non-operating room settings

Antonija Jakovčević
Sanja Kusačic Kuna
Sanja Kusačić Kuna is an associate professor of nuclear medicine. She graduated from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine 1989 and was specialty board certified in nuclear medicine in 1995. Since 1991, she has worked in the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Protection of the University Hospital Center Zagreb, and since 2012, she has been working as the head of the Clinical Department for the application of radionuclides. At the Medical School of the University of Zagreb, she completed postgraduate studies in “Ultrasound in Clinical Medicine.” The academic degree of master of science with a master’s thesis in the field of ultrasonography was obtained in 2002, and in 2010 she defended her PhD thesis in the field of thyroid cancer. Actively participate in various conferences in the fields of nuclear medicine, ultrasound diagnostics, and oncology, which is supported by the publication of reports. As a lecturer, she is involved in undergraduate and several postgraduate studies and courses of continuing medical education. Shows particular interest in the field of diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases, especially malignant ones. Her field of expertise is the application of ultrasound in oncology, especially the possibility of early differentiation of benign from malignant lymphadenopathy in various malignant diseases.

Mirko Kontić, MD, PhD, is a professor of otorhinolaryngology at the University of Split School of Medicine, and the head of the Department for Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases with Head and Neck Surgery at Split University Hospital. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Sarajevo in 1989 and obtained his PhD at the University of Split School of Medicine in 2015. He is a subspecialist in plastic head and neck surgery. His main career interest is surgical oncology of the head and neck.
Mirko Kontić, MD, PhD, is a professor of otorhinolaryngology at the University of Split School of Medicine, and the head of the Department for Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases with Head and Neck Surgery at Split University Hospital.
